NONTOX

Removing hazardous substances to increase recycling rates of WEEE, ELV and CDW plastics

The European H2020 NONTOX project is a combination of multiple technologies to recycle hazardous plastic waste generated from waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), end-of-life vehicles (ELV) and construction and demolition waste (CDW). The unique combination of mechanical and chemical recycling technologies confers numerous technical-economic advantages over conventional single methods.

The main objective is to increase the recycling rates of plastic waste containing hazardous substances by developing and optimizing recycling processes to produce safe, high-quality secondary materials and optimizing the overall economy of the process by integrating sorting techniques and pre-treatment, recycling technologies but also post-treatment techniques.
