From May 1st 2021, the EU H2020 PEACOC project started, in which Treee participates together with other distinguished international partners.
In Europe there are significant quantities of end-of-life products containing Precious Metals. These products have vast recycling potential. However, current industrial recycling technologies such as smelting or hydro-metallurgical processes used by large recycling companies require high energy consumption and leave a negative carbon footprint that harms both human health and the environment. In this context, PEACOC, an EU-funded project, aims to solve the current challenges limiting the recovery of precious metals on a large scale, exploiting the vast potential of the EU's secondary resources. The project will research and demonstrate, at a pre-commercial level, new, effective, low-cost and environmentally friendly technologies for the recovery of gold, silver and platinum group metals from complex waste mixtures.
PEACOC - Pre-commercial pilot for the efficient recovery of Precious Metals from European end of life resources with novel low-cost technologies, aims to treat end-of-life products in Europe, including spent automatic catalysts, printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) of low / medium quality (currently under valued in the EU) and photovoltaic waste.
